Director– People Services Transformation
I never would have imagined ending up in human resources (or People Services, as we call it at DaVita), but I am grateful that I did! I was drawn to the department by an outstanding leader who was invested in my development and was willing to create opportunities for me to stretch myself. Early in my career I got to hire my first teammate, own a high-visibility project and present my work to our executives. Those experiences, at that point in time, allowed me to build a strong foundation and accelerate my professional growth.
In 2018, our team developed DaVita's first comprehensive People Strategy. We set three-year goals to meaningfully improve almost all aspects of the teammate experience: from development, to benefits, to pay. It's exciting and fulfilling to see the progress that's been made to improve the lives of our 60,000 teammates, and hopefully, by extension, the lives of our patients.
My advice for candidates is to invest the time to get to know everyone in your cohort on a personal level. Work is much more fun with friends!
I received a degree in biomedical engineering at Northwestern University.
Fun fact: I have three chickens named after the Spice Girls: Baby, Ginger and Sporty. I like to consider myself an urban farmer.
