Redwoods Resident 2019
Regional Operations Director– Northeastern Division
I was looking for a company that provided both a career goal alignment and a culture/values fit. To me, the impact a good boss can have on their team (and their patients) makes the general manager role one of the most fulfilling career paths. DaVita, offered me the most comprehensive opportunity to do meaningful work in a function that aligned with my long-term career objectives. Most importantly, the ethos of the company is something I am proud to be a part of.
One of the most profound learnings I've had since starting is that I'm not naturally vulnerable with my feelings and emotions at work. I learned quickly in my role that in order for people to connect with me and ultimately trust me and my decision making, I had to meet them halfway with openness and vulnerability.
My advice for candidates is, invest in each other and in the teammates who are training you at the beginning. These relationships will become the foundation for your success and your support network in your future endeavors. Additionally, they're usually really good people and may end up becoming close friends.
I received an undergraduate degree in communication studies at Northwestern University and my MBA at Harvard Business School.
Fun fact: I completed a French culinary program abroad. My fondest memory is taking three hours to prepare a tomato sauce and then having a top European chef tell me that it tasted like Prego. I thought that was a compliment at the time.
