I first heard of DaVita my sophomore year of college and immediately knew I wanted to work here because of my interest in science and my desire to have an impact on others’ wellbeing.
DaVita has offered me so many professional development opportunities, both in developing hard technical skills and soft skills. After learning the in-depth use of various programs and software, I’ve spent recent years developing people and project management skills, contract implementation, account management, business development and more.
I've learned that leading often requires you to roll up your sleeves to help teammates find creative solutions. There is no better way to lead than by serving and showing teammates that you support them and will do whatever it takes to make a project successful.
The most impactful project I've worked on has been establishing a collaborative payor-provider partnership focused on supporting the sickest, highest cost and most acute ESRD patients. It's required the use of predictive modeling and data, systematic processes and collaboration between executive leadership and clinical professionals. What's been most impactful is knowing that these incredibly sick individuals are getting tailored support to address their most complex needs.
My advice to candidates is to become friends with your cohort, leverage the Redwoods network and don't be afraid to raise your hand if you have an idea or want to work on a project that excites you. The network, friendships and experience gave me a tremendous starting point in a large organization.
I received my bachelor’s degree in business administration from University of Colorado – Boulder.
Fun fact: I am actively involved in Special Olympics Colorado. I have coached basketball and softball for 3 years and am on the Young Professionals Board.
