Andrew Barba
Redwoods Analyst 2008
Vice President – Integrated Kidney Care
I joined DaVita because of the caliber of teammates and the opportunity to learn about the business of health care. What keeps me here after so many years is the quality of the relationships I've been fortunate enough to develop and the opportunity to share U.S. health care policy to improve the health of patients with kidney disease.
The projects where I've had most impact are those where I get to combine my dual passions for public policy and rigorous quantitative analysis. In 2010, I helped the Village advocate for policy improvements that contributed to a successful transition to a Medicare bundled payment system for dialysis services. Today, I get to combine policy and analytics to advocate for integrated kidney care programs designed to help improve the health of the patients we serve.
My advice for candidates is, do what you say you will do. Learn to say no sometimes so you can deliver on what you say yes to, always. Be humble and listen generously.
I received my degree human biology, concentration in health care policy and economics at Stanford University.
Fun facts: I am a proud lefty and former black belt in karate. I enjoy running, volleyball and listening to JFK presidential speeches.
