I come from a family with a hereditary kidney disease. Throughout my life I have always known that I would either be a carrier or a future donor to one of my four younger brothers. My father received a kidney transplant three years before I graduated from undergrad, and I knew I wanted to work in the health care world. DaVita gives life to patients just like how I will one day give life to one of my brothers.
One project that I had the opportunity to work on was with the Finance/IT initiative to launch a Salesforce platform that tracks deals throughout the Village. This platform enables teammates to better execute and finalize new dialysis centers, and it has led to the development of more than 100 new dialysis units.
My advice for candidates is, never stop believing in your ability to change health care and shift the course of even the largest organizations. Continually ask yourself, "How can this be improved and how can I make an impact?"
I received my bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University and MBA at Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
Fun fact: I lived abroad in Scotland when I was young. When I returned to the U.S., I had such a thick accent that no one in my second grade class could understand me! You would never know with how I speak now.
